My Travels this Week

Today is the first day I've been back at my computer working on stuff for a while. I have been once again traveling the East Coast with family.
On Tuesday night, my Mom, Grandma, Aunt Ame and I all went to the second round of the NCAA Women's Basketball Tournament. The game was University of Maryland vs. Utah. Maryland won! WOOT!

The game was really fun. A different crowd to watch college athletics with, that's for sure, but fun non-the-less. Mom and I talked shop the whole time and MAN DO I LOVE BASKETBALL!!! It never dies.

I feel like my love of basketball is this daffodil, it hides for a lot of the year. It is suppressed by the layers of "life snow" that lay themselves on top of my things-to-do-list and I forget that it's there. Then, just at the right time, the little bit of yellow and green shine through and burst through the barrier without hesitation and my basketball daffodil is alive and well again.
So analogies aside--I had a great time. Memories made once again.

Yesterday, Mom and I spent the whole day on the road to go get my plane tickets and see Erin play against York (@Frostburg).
The plane tickets are for my trip to USC the first weekend in April! I'm going to the Admitted Graduate Stuents Weekend, and I am MAJORLY excited! On April 3rd I will be attending a screening of Forest Gump followed by a Q&A with Director Robert Zemekis and actors Tom Hanks and Gary Sinise... "Lt. Dan's got magic legs." That's right.
The other two days I'm there I'll be attending screenings of shorts...a film nerd's dream!
I can't wait to see the school!!! The plane tickets are purchased and the cop at the airport's got my Mom's van on his list of things to look out for...lol.
Erin's game was fun. I love getting to see her play. She is the skinniest goalie in history, I swear.
I enjoyed seeing her but you know what I don't enjoy? Frostburg.
I have visited her many times over the past four years and NOT ONCE HAS IT BEEN SUNNY. Every time it rains or is cloudy and cold.
She goes to school where the sun don't shine. A butt.
Yesterday proved it further. Also--I wore my Dad's rain pants that dwarfed me to looking like I'm 3ft tall. LOL.

Today, I am recovering and working on Financial Aid stuff. Scholarship searches and such. If you have any suggestions of where to find money to pay for school...please let me know :)
More traveling to come in the near future and hopefully I'll find out about Ford Fiesta soon too!!

PS
Jay and Sarah sent me pics of Julia "J-Dawg" in Pheonix...she's already so different! She's a goofball and a 1/2!

Katharine too! :)

When it Snows it Rains

BRRRRRR-
The past two days have been COLD.
The days before that, I wore just jeans and a light sweater. This is ridiculous!
She digresses...

My Dad had his gull bladder out on Wed. Yey Dad! He's doing well... thanks for asking.

Due to his vegetated state (or just doctor's orders not to go out in the sub-degree weather... either way... I prefer drama), he could not attend my sister's lacrosse game at Washington College, Saturday, with my Mom and me.

Now I want you to take a minute to imagine life in Antarctica...

got it?

That's what it was like sitting in the stands. I love my sister that much.

(My sister, Erin. Go #12!)

My Mom came prepared (unlike her spawn). She brought sit-upons, blankets, gloves and the almighty hand warmers! Now comes my point-- She brought 2 hand warmers and 2 foot warmers (feet warmers?). The hand warmers look like bean bags, the foot warmers look like maxi-pads cut in half.

My Mom posed a question: "Why are you taking a picture of it?"
To which I responded: "To blog about, Mom. I have no running theme."*

Now, to address the title.
It is SNOWING in Salisbury.

This is almost unheard of in this neck of the woods.
I found out, through this particular snow shower, that I have not one thing that is affected by the snow, beyond wiping off the windows of my car.
Now that I don't go to school, I don't have any reason to get excited about snow in Salisbury.
Snow in Salisbury means one or two snowballs, maybe a snowman, but no sledding and an exorbitant amount of time inside.

This all sparked memories of checking the weather and leaving little notes to God... yes to God... to ask for a snow day. I think my Mother might still do this on occasion (though I have yet to catch her). Good 'ole Catholic school for you, telling you to pray, well I did... I prayed for snow!
Bomb scares were another clutch day off, but that's a different story for another day... Carol.

When I lived in Connecticut there were no snow days. It had to be ICE and SNOW and something had to have gone wrong in a building (couldn't get in, frozen pipes...etc). I remember one morning in particular at Quinnipiac when it had snowed and was as icy as an ice skating rink.
My friends M.J. and Kaitlin and I were all walking to a 5 am practice (inside the gym) and it was probably 2 degrees outside. We were all tired and miserable and Kaitlin said "Do you think if I slipped on this black ice and busted my head I wouldn't have to practice today?" M.J. responded, "Only if you take us down with you."
I love friends like that. All for involved, or not at all. Lol.

I'm sure none of the schools will have class tomorrow, there is at least 2 inches on the ground here. That means people will act like the apocalyps is happening, drive like idiots and I will now pray that Julia wants to throw a snowball or two! Haha!
