If I were a Bee... oh wait apparently I AM! haha I took the green porno quiz just a couple seconds ago and this happened!

 

I'm not really proud that they feel I'm a bee sexually, but I think it's funny because I'm so excited about being a bee for Halloween!

SNL was completely amazing this past Saturday... and one video REALLY to check out is the 

Lawerence Welk's Show. 

Kristen Wiig's performances were slightly overshadowed by Tina Fey's Palin impression. I mean we all know I'm one of the BIGGEST Tina Fey fans in the world, but Kristen should get some major props.

Her Pelosi impersonation was fantastic... as always (I still blindly love Nancy Pelosi) and she also got into Andy Samberg's video... she was great.

Yep, there she is. Also Fred Armisen's impersonation of Representative Barney Frank (D-Mass) was HILARIOUS. 

Well I have more grad school work to do, which I AM making progress on... and I'm really excited about it!

Okay so once again Sunday is beautiful due to the genius that is Saturday Night Live. 

Tina Fey appeared, again, as Sarah Palin. She NAILED IT. They mocked the VP Debate from this past Thursday. She was accompanied by Queen Latifah as Gwen Ifill and Jason Sudakis as Joe Biden, the whole scene was a home run.

The whole episode was great. I mean the skit that followed the monologue was a spoof of PBS's old ass programing.

It was HILARIOUS.

Today is also good because I got my Halloween costume today... and I am going to be A BEE!!!

I'm very excited about this costume because it is a dream coming true.

If I haven't mentioned it before I am a HUGE Ingrid Bergman fan. I am also a HUGE fan of Isabella Rossellini, Ingrid's daughter.

This is what I'm aspiring to. The costume has no wings, as of yet, and I have to make some compound eyes and a stinger. but the body suit is meraviglioso!

That last little bit is Italian for Wonderful and I just thought I'd add that as a shout out to Isabella Rossellini for her inspiration. I'm reading her book right now, she's so out there and whacked out but doesn't give a rat's ass..... I LOVE IT!

I'm going to my grandma's house for dinner tonight, I'm excited to practice my Sarah Palin impression on my grandma... I want to hear what she has to say about that crazy "maverick." Plus I'm excited to see my grandma... she's f-ing awesome.

Here is an e-mail I have just sent to my former Women's History professor... I think you'll get the idea...

Also, I really want debates to have the people in split screen, but then they pull back to a wide shot and the candidates/debaters are actually standing that close to each other... BLISS

"I feel like women in the media; in some branches of life in general; and politics (such as Geraldine Ferarro) are endorsing Sarah Palin's image as a woman. It's almost a sense of respectability for women as if standing up on a stage and being a pawn for the Republican party is some sort of medal to be worn for females. I don't understand. It's completely wrong to say it's admirable for a woman to stand up on that stage and join in a debate. GF said she hopes her granddaughter looks up and sees a woman and is inspired. It's crap! That's like looking at Old Schlafdog and saying, whoa, she "has" a vagina that makes her my hero. CRAP.

I am completely heated by this (as are my comrades in SAGE). It's making women seem dumb. It's making image more important than what someone stands for. Sarah Palin is NOT pro-woman. She's trying to do things that will set us back (I know this because I took your classes...lol). 

I know you don't like to bring personal politics into class (though the personal is political...had to jab there) but I can you see how women or people in women's studies are reacting to this type of image/reaction of/to Sarah Palin's ability to stand up and debate?

I think that it is almost like saying we're weak because it takes courage to stand up and debate, as if men don't have to face a challenge? Maybe it's just poor wording. Maybe I'm missing something, but I've been trying to keep up and it just isn't making sense nor does any of this shit seem admirable.

I'm calling Schlafdog. I'm going to write down a day to call her. I'll let you know how it goes.

Don't vote for Sarah Palin because she's a woman. YES vote because you can. Vote because YOU are a woman (or man or whatever). BUT VOTE BASED ON BELIEFS AND POLICY!!!

Dumpster Teens?

Nebraska has a new law that allows children who would potentially be "dumpster babies" to be left at police stations and hospitals in order to preserve their well being.

Well this new law has begun to backfire... but not for the state necessarily or babies... but for older children and teens. There have been many cases of children being left by family members because they are unmanageable or there are too many in the house.

This is a really strange way to avoid dumpster babies. I feel like it's like the idea of "preventing terrorism." I personally feel that if someone is motivated enough by their circumstances or discontent, that they will carry through whatever deed they feel necessary to make their cause known. If someone wants to leave a child in a dumpster, they're probably avoiding any possible chance of being seen. Therefore a hospital drop off might be unappealing. Granted the idea of a hospital drop off with out social stigma seems nice and yes it would save the child (or children) but it's pretty much just an ideal.

This all reminds me of traveling in an air plane. The TSA is not there to "prevent terrorism" because the terrorists would just use the stuff available in the terminal if they wanted to really take someone down. They are there to keep everyone aware that terrorism happens and to be scared as shit to go see your grandparents in Albuquerque. The idea spawns new problems, like being frisked or interrogated because you forgot you had a snow globe in your backpack or because your kid is wearing tap shoes that they wouldn't take off.

The whole thing is ridiculous.

The children situation does need to be dealt with, but I think we'll have to figure out a way to not condemn people in society before we relieve problems that only exist because of the former.

Okay, well that's all for now because I'm about to help Jeff learn how to cook potatoes... Nap time extravaganza!

The Future

I'm taking a break from studying to share some current thoughts. 

Today has been slightly chaotic (and keep in mind I babysit so this can get gross). 

My shirt is covered in finger paint as was the child. There was a mondo poopy diaper that made me slightly yack. 

She spewed a bit after laughing too hard (I take responsibility for that one, I'm hilarious). 

Lunch was a disaster. 

She didn't want to eat it all, and it was rice... 

RICE is like playdough. It gets everywhere you don't want it to and when it dries it is like cement. She now doesn't like to take a nap because she realizes the rest of the world is still rockin' and I understand... she just wants to make sure the economy doesn't come falling down while she's asleep... we all have worries.

This eventful day has made me study harder. I realize that all of these wonderful aspects of child rearing are not for me quite yet. I need to further my education and live a selfish, single, and traveling life. 

I love watching Julia, don't get me wrong, it's a great gig. I'm just glad that I've made the decisions that I have in order to not have this situation permanently... or of my own. 

Ahh, she's asleep. VICTORY! 

This makes the rest of play time and hanging out with Julia bliss (so bonus points for me!).

 (^-- Bliss. Did I mention I'm also a REALLY good babysitter? Did anyone ever let you wear a cape at lunch? And then wear a cape of their own?)

So enough about babysitting... which for anyone who might be thinking of taking a year off, or that just ends up with a year off between school and real life (or more school)... BABYSIT. It's a great gig. Find people (like I did) who are willing to help you succeed in your next endeavor and who want you to flee the nest asap. If you can't babysit, wait tables. It will teach you the value of the buck (even if it's worth jack) and how to handle yourself in any situation. It's also quick money, and a lot is under the table. I've done both (I prefer Julia-watching), both involve gross things at times, but the rewards are great and though you may fall in love with the job, you can also fall in love with the fact that they're always breakable.

I can't wait to go to Grad School or to travel or do whatever it is I'm meant to do. I'm still trying to figure it out. It's REALLY difficult at times, but it makes everything incredibly vivid and slightly intimidating yet exciting. 

Today is kind of a filler. I'm working on applications and studying (so I could talk more about that but it's boring and overwhelming right now). Just in a fall ennui; wouldn't be surprised if the cloudy weather has something to do with it too.

Tomorrow's debate between Joe Biden and Sarah Palin should cure that. WOOT! 

I really think she's pooping her pants right now. Biden is (hopefully) going to rip her a new one and show her what actual experience looks like. I hope he just nails it and doesn't patronize or let up because she's a woman.* If she once comments about being treated unfairly due to her sex, if it is not warranted, I'm going to flip a shit. So tomorrow night's blog (or Friday's depending on how I feel) should be ROCKIN. 

*Tests have yet to prove that Sarah Palin is in fact a human female.
